Jason Marsh, of Gloucester, won the $1 million grand prize in the new "Emerald Mine 50X" game. The $5 scratch-off ticket went on sale on Jan. 7.
Marsh chose to take the lump sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity, which would have paid the full $1 million in installments over 20 years.
He said he plans to use that money to fix his car.
Marsh bought the ticket at Stop & Shop, 400 Lincoln St. in Hingham. The store will get a $10 bonus for the sale.
